Being our corporeal "mother tongue," folk dance is one of the bases of our national culture. This production of the Hungarian State Folk Dance Ensemble interprets the traditional forms of folk art and expression in a new way. The audience's attention is directed to our earthly existence and to the heritage of our forefathers through the abstract language of dance. Having these great individuals, famous dancers and musicians as models to learn from reveals the continuity and everyday value of this culture, as well as its steadfast power, making it both a fundamental aspect of our human existence, and an important source of our national self-identity. This performance is a journey in space, time, and in imagination. It is the memory of our collective journey and conjures up shared, personal experiences - in this way it puts some of the most beautiful dances of the Carpathian Basin on stage.

The show tells us that although we live in an increasingly uniform and superficial "pop culture", we still have our own characteristic traditions. The show reveals the continuity and importance of this culture, as well as its power, making it both a fundamental aspect of our human existence and an important source of our national identity.

The performance is a journey in space, time and imagination. It is the memory of a journey that we made together, and it conjures up shared, personal experiences - In this way it puts some of the most beautiful dances of the Carpathian Basin on stage.
